They're Calling Him Batman — And It Ain't a Compliment
One forgotten contract, one 'generous' offer, and a Fair Play nominee accused of 'blackmail' — inside the #general-chat blow-up that had the mods reaching for the warning book

Right, grab a brew — the server's been a powder keg for a week and it all detonated Sunday night in #general-chat.
One striker. One forgotten contract. And a community veteran who half the room now calls "Batman." Not as a compliment.
What kicked off
It started private, like these things always do. snaus74 spotted that a manager had missed a contract renewal on a young Ukrainian prospect — a lad snaus wanted for his Ukraine Sevastopol club. So he agented the player and made an offer. The manager on the other side? Cipi | El Rincón del DT — known round these parts as Cipone, a contributor and one of the more, shall we say, *vocal* faces in the community.
Cipi went public with his side first:
He sent me a message, offering x8 + 1000 SVC injection. I rejected the offer, is about a young prospect and I told him that I consider a way to steal the player for my club... I will defend the clubs where I have shares as I expect for everyone to do the same.
That word — steal — is the one that lit the fuse. Because snaus wasn't having it.
snaus snaps back
You forget to mention that you immediatly accused me of wanting to STEAL your player. Even though my offer was very generous. 1.03 million for a 52 rated 20 yo player that becomes 60 next season... So I offer almost 10 times his value... Please stop it with all the accusations. Of me stealing, trying to hurt clubs, abusing others and scamming others, and taking advantage of others. If this is the way you want to play the game then maybe MMO's are not for you. And just play Football Manager.
Oof. "Go play Football Manager" is about as close to a declaration of war as it gets in this server, la.
Enter the pile-on
And then the room turned. LilPimiETuk — who runs Auxerre and Granada and admits he's had his *own* history with snaus — stepped in swinging, and gave the saga its nickname:
the BATMAN COMES AND PROTECTS HIS ASSETS AND CLUBS FROM UNFAIR PLAYERS. He immediately leaves the game... The player leaves immediately because he has to deal with blackmailing. That's not a good image for the game.
He went further, and this is the line that'll sting:
Cipone is a SV Ultra, he is contributer, he is nominated every season for the Fair Play Manager, there is nothing 'fair play' in him. He is someone who we should look up to in this community... and he is doing these things instead of talking out things the normal way.
That's the heart of it: the man up for a *fair play* nod, accused of being anything but. And the old "is it against the rules or is it just bad form?" debate reared up again. Klo // svbase.eu tried to keep it grounded — *"if something illegal is done, FA is here for it. If it's in the rules, then it's the game, even if you don't like it."* LilPimiETuk wasn't buying the legalese: *"It's not about if it's illegal, it's about the good image of the game... ethics."*
And the tempers that needed a leash
Now, banter's the house style and I'll let a lot slide — but a few lads went over the line and yeah, warnings got logged. jordantsonev_68565 lobbed a "Drama Queen" at Cipi and got told to explain himself. cloudsv_ properly lost it — *"who the fck you think u are"* and worse — and copped a warning for the insults. Keep it tidy, lads. Make your point without the digs and nobody has to reach for the book.
This ain't new, mind
Here's the thing the newcomers won't know: this is a *sequel*. Back in April, dafata went public accusing Cipi of transferring a player "completely behind my back, without my consent or any prior notice," warning the room to "be cautious when shaking hands or making verbal agreements with him." By his own admission, dafata later ended up banned after things got heated — and even from a borrowed account still doubled down that "you took our player behind our backs." tabard6 summed up the whole recurring mess best months ago: *"If we all talk first before acting in a dishonest way, 90% of the drama here wouldn't exist."*
So this isn't a one-off ruck. It's a running rivalry between one veteran's hard-nosed "defend my shares at all costs" style and a chunk of the community who reckon that style scares off the very newcomers we need.
Skez's verdict
Here's my fair shout, and I'll give it straight down the middle. Nobody broke a game rule that I can see — agenting a player whose contract was left to run down is the game working as designed, and a manager fighting to keep his prospect is equally fair. This was a *negotiation that went sour*, then went public, then went nuclear. The real damage wasn't the transfer — it was the word "steal" landing on a generous offer, and a tired room deciding it'd finally had enough of the lectures.
Two sides, both convinced they're the good guy, both with a point. Same as it ever was. Talk it out in DMs next time, eh? Saves me a job. Keep it tidy out there. 🦇
