82 MINUTES TO A 50M BID: LEVERKUSEN POUNCE ON KEHRER

Alkmaar listed their 91-rated defender with no bids on him, and that lasted under an hour and a half. Leverkusen have bid the full asking price, and the player's agent is also the buying club's biggest backer.

82 MINUTES TO A 50M BID: LEVERKUSEN POUNCE ON KEHRER

Fifty million. Eighty-two minutes. One bid.

Alkmaar listed 91-rated defender Jan Kehrer at 08:32 UTC this morning with a 50M SVC asking price. At 09:54 Leverkusen bid exactly that. If you heard he was sitting there with no bids, that's out of date, love. The auction clock has started, and it closes at 09:54 UTC on Wednesday 28 October.

No other live bid comes close. There are 9,252 players listed, and the next-highest bid is 12M (Oostende, for Crystal Palace's Zach MacFarlane Abbott). Kehrer's bid is 4.17 times bigger.

Leverkusen said what they wanted

Leverkusen manager gheote put his shopping list in the transfers channel on 5 October:

Leverkusen is looking for a central back (CB) with a minimum rating of 86

— gheote

Kehrer is a 30-year-old German centre-back rated 91, with 91 tackling, and he can also play either full-back. Alkmaar manager Puglist advertised him on Discord seven minutes after listing him: "Player for sale / Jan Kehrer / 91 rated / 50 mil." Leverkusen's bid came 75 minutes after that.

They need him. None of Leverkusen's current defenders is rated above 89. Chibuike Nwaiwu, their 60M summer signing at centre-back, is injured until Tuesday, and Santiago Sosa is out until 29 November. They also sold Piero Hincapié to London Red for 100M in July.

Alkmaar lose 10.3M

Alkmaar paid Monaco 60,300,001 SVC for Kehrer on 15 August, beating Farum's 55.26M bid. Selling at 50M would lose them 10.3M, which is 17.1% below what they paid. Puglist didn't make that signing: he only took charge in early October.

He's been busy since: - 8 Oct — sold a player to West Ham for 42.94M - 18 Oct — bought Tae-Hyeon Kim (79, LB/CB) from Degerfors for 30M - Today — sold Alexandre Penetra Correia (79, CB) to Roma for 18.5M, then 11 minutes later paid Milton Keynes 36.51M for Francisco Navarro Aliaga, an 81-rated striker

Kehrer has played regularly for Alkmaar this season: 14 league appearances, 89% of available minutes, a 7.0 average rating. But his 425,350 SVC wage is 31.6% of Alkmaar's 1.34M wage bill, and the club have 17.34M in the bank, so it's easy to see why they'd sell.

The price is what got a bid. Monaco asked 183.1M for him in July, and the 50M ask is 72.7% lower. It's 3.28 times his 15.26M game value, which is modest next to Liverpool's 130M for Virgil van Dijk and Paris's 160M for Beraldo. Neither of those has had a single bid.

The agent

Kehrer's agent, krille120, owns 50,000 of the player's influence, more than any other named holder. He's also Leverkusen's biggest influence holder, with 23,130 shares, nearly eight times the next person. He represents four of Leverkusen's current squad, including keeper Lukáš Hrádecký. It's the same pattern I flagged at West Ham this month: the buying club's biggest backer is also the player's agent.

There's one difference: this time no backer has put cash in. The only donation from krille120 to Leverkusen on record is 7,500 SVC, back in June 2025. Leverkusen are paying out of their own 66.68M balance, which the Hincapié sale helped build. If the fee stays at 50M, they'll have 16.68M left.

They're also trying to raise money. Leverkusen listed Granit Xhaka at 40M at 22:17 UTC on Saturday, about 12 hours before this bid. He's had no bids yet, and gheote has been looking for a midfielder to replace him since late September.

What to watch

The next bid has to be at least 50.5M, and no bid can go above 183.1M. Rival clubs have until 09:54 UTC on Wednesday. If nobody else bids, Leverkusen get Kehrer for the asking price. The deal isn't done until that clock runs out.
