Liverpool have changed the price on Mohamed Salah Hamed six times since January. The ask is now 180M SVC lower than where it started, and nobody has bid.

I pulled the full auction record for the 34-year-old Egyptian:

• 3 January: listed at 300M SVC (pulled 7 January)
• 7 January: relisted at 225M (pulled 24 January)
• 24 January: cut to 190M (pulled 5 June)
• 5 June: 120M (pulled 11 June)
• 5 July: back up to 135M (pulled 16 July)
• 16 July: 120M, still live

There are no bids recorded on any of the six auctions. Salah has been on the market for 253 of the last 278 days. The current listing is 84 days old and its auction clock has never started.

Two managers, same result

Serrao10 set the first three prices. He ran Liverpool from January 2025 until 31 May. The 300M ask went up on the same day Salah's rating rose to 99.

Biarritz took over on 31 May. Five days later he relisted Salah at 120M, then pulled him six days after that. The 4 July ratings update dropped Salah from 99 to 93, and the next day Biarritz listed him at 135M. That was more than he had asked for the 99-rated Salah. It lasted 11 days. On 16 July, 15 minutes after listing Virgil van Dijk at 130M, he cut Salah back to 120M.

The numbers don't add up

Salah's game value is 14.42M SVC, so the ask is 8.32 times that. The rules allow bids up to 172.99M, twelve times his value. But only 18 of the game's 5,350 clubs have 120M or more in the bank. In England's top flight only one does: Tottenham, 18th in the table with 193.29M.

Past deals don't help either. The biggest fee ever paid for a player aged 34 or over is the 119.15M Brighton paid Madrid White for 40-year-old Luka Modrić in July. That same night Madrid White sold Thibaut Courtois, 34, to Nice for 100.11M. At 120M, Liverpool are asking for a new record, beating Modrić's fee by 854,879 SVC.

Still a regular

Salah still plays most of the time. He has been on the pitch for 81% of Liverpool's league minutes this season, with three goals, one assist and a 7.0 average rating in 16 appearances. Liverpool top ENG Division 1 on 37 points, three ahead of Crystal Palace. His goal tally is falling, though: 15, 7 and 6 league goals in his first three seasons.

His 510,420 SVC wage makes up 9.9% of Liverpool's 5.14M wage bill. The club doesn't need the money. It has 81.27M in the bank and got 106.84M from Andorra for Jobe Bellingham on 4 July.

The influence market has already cut its price. Salah influence sold at 2.50 SVC in April, and the latest trades went through at 0.38. BaronGorskov holds the largest active stake, with 50,000 units.

The verdict

Liverpool have taken 180M off the price, and six times the market has said no. For a 34-year-old, 120M still looks too high. Biarritz can cut the price again or keep his 93-rated winger for the title run. Until a bid comes in, there is no sale.
