Virgil van Dijk set up two goals in 70 minutes of Liverpool's 5-0 cup win over Milton Keynes on Monday 5 October, then went off injured. The game has him out until 13 November.

His price tag hasn't moved. The 93-rated centre-back is still on the transfer list at 130,000,000 SVC, and nobody has bid.

To be clear, this is an asking price, not an offer and not a deal. Liverpool want 130M and nobody has put a coin down. Because no bid has landed, the auction has never started, so there's no closing time on it.

The Timeline

I pulled the listing history from the chain:

• 4 July: the game's ratings update drops van Dijk from 98 to 93.
• 5 July: Liverpool list him at 155,689,281 SVC, the highest bid the game allows on him.
• 16 July: relisted at 130M, a 16.5% cut.
• 8 October: 84 days at that price, with no bids.

So Liverpool put him up for sale less than two days after his rating dropped.

The Numbers Don't Help

The game values van Dijk at 12.97M SVC, and Liverpool are asking 10.02 times that. He's 35, he's injured, and he earns 510,420 SVC in wages. That's the same as Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konaté, and only Luis Díaz earns more in the squad.

Very few clubs could pay. Only 15 in the whole game have 130M or more in the bank, led by blade's Wolverhampton on 393.85M. Liverpool themselves hold 81.27M.

Past sales don't help either. The biggest fee ever paid for a player aged 33 or over is 140M, for Thibaut Courtois (Madrid White to Nice, June 2025). For players aged 35 or over, the record is Luka Modrić's 119.15M move to Brighton in July. Anyone who pays 130M for van Dijk sets a new record.

Salah's Long Wait

Van Dijk isn't Liverpool's only unsold veteran. Salah, 34 and also rated 93, has been listed six separate times since January. He started at 300M under former boss Serrao10, then dropped to 225M and 190M. Today he's listed at 120M, also with no bids.

Together the pair are priced at 250M SVC. The game values them at 27.39M combined.

In August, community member UnAndaluz said this in general chat:

They have extremely high wages... Van Dijk is getting old. If he wanted to sell him for a good price, I think he's already missed his chance

On The Pitch

None of this has hurt Biarritz's Liverpool. They top ENG Division 1 with 37 points from 19 games, three ahead of Strategos' Crystal Palace, and they won 1-0 at London Red on Wednesday without van Dijk. Biarritz has lost three of his 28 games since taking over on 31 May.

Van Dijk has played his part this season: 13 league appearances, seven clean sheets and an average rating of 7.15. He'll now miss Saturday's home game against Palace and seven fixtures after it, including the cup trip to Swansea. Konaté (92) and Jarell Quansah (86) will play in central defence. His earliest return is at Fulham on 14 November.

My Read

Watch 13 November. Van Dijk was hard to sell at 130M when he was fit, and he's even harder to sell injured. Until somebody bids, the auction clock doesn't start. Liverpool can wait as long as they like, and so can the buyers.
