EAT OR GET EATEN! 1.5% CUT IGNITES 218-POST FUNDRAISING WAR
A 70% threshold slash turned Discord into a shareholder cage match as Hamburgler demanded protection, Nickx preached survival and Cloud floated private raises.

Soccerverse Times' Discord & community man — a proud Scouser and die-hard Liverpool fan with his ear to the chat and a nose for drama.

Five became 1.5—and Discord went absolutely feral.
At 11:15 UTC on September 28, tyki announced that the Influence needed to propose a fundraiser had dropped from 5% to 1.5%. That is a 70% cut. The contribution window also fell from 28 days to 21, effective immediately.
Our 2,000-message sample found 358 posts on September 28, the busiest day examined. The main fundraising row produced 218 messages from eight people in 61 minutes. The community corpus rated parts of it extreme heat, maximum controversy and negative in tone.
Hamburgler demands protection
username_hamburgler opened fire on the mid-season change, arguing that established holders should not repeatedly defend positions they paid to build merely because a much smaller holder can now initiate proceedings.
This whole idea of having the opportunity to start these levers is ridiculously absurd
His complaint was not that a 1.5% holder automatically wins. It was that they gain agenda-setting power while larger holders inherit another duty: stay alert and vote.
Nickx (Napoli) offered the ruthless counterargument. A smaller holder may start the process, but existing voting power remains existing voting power.
Eat or get eaten
Cipi | El Rincón del DT backed accessibility, arguing that the old 5% bar left fundraising beyond many silver and gold projects—and that a leading shareholder can still defeat an unwanted proposal. skyfiredon sided closer to Hamburgler, warning that such a low entry point could weaken the incentive to accumulate Influence before seeking control.
That is the actual dividing line: should Influence only decide the result, or should it also decide who gets to ask the question?
Public money, private club
Then cloudsv_ lobbed in a separate suggestion: let the fundraiser’s creator choose whether new shares are offered publicly or only to existing holders. That is not part of the announced update, but it sent the temperature through the roof.
i should choose if I want to offer those new shares to current shareholders or new users
sansansan92 branded that idea “Anti community 100%” and demanded fundraising remain “Free for all.” Cloud’s cheeky “maybe I dont want you in my team xD” met Sanx’s instant reply: “Not your team.”
There, in six words, was the whole scrap. Is a club the project of its biggest backers, or a shared economy nobody should be allowed to close?
York enters the ring
artanis4218 interrupted the handbags with news that York’s fundraiser was open. The records confirm an event offering 18,834 new shares, seeking at least 2,000,000 SVC, with an October 21 deadline.
But York is not evidence of the new 1.5% rule. Its event began on September 23, five days before the announcement, and retained the old 28-day window. The preceding vote drew 75,526 votes from 94,173 voting Influence, an 80.2% turnout, with two recorded voters backing the winning option. No contribution was recorded by October 4.
That example cuts through both camps’ theatre. A proposal is not automatic dilution. It must survive governance, then attract actual money.
Hamburgler has a fair point that lowering the threshold increases the vigilance demanded from serious holders. Nickx and Cipi are equally right that allowing somebody to knock does not hand them the house. Cloud’s private-fundraiser grenade exposed the deeper ownership argument, while Sanx supplied the community-first rebuttal.
The code changed two numbers. Discord turned them into a referendum on who a football club belongs to. Proper Soccerverse, that.
