Some price tags start a stampede. This one has sat under the floodlights since midsummer.

Barcelona have listed Frenkie de Jong for 150M SVC. That figure is the asking price—not an offer, not a winning bid. The auction record contains zero bids.

The listing was created on 22 July and remains marked as not started, with no end time shown. More than two months on, nobody has put the money down.

Elite player, hefty premium

De Jong is no ordinary market spare. The 29-year-old is rated 97, with 97 passing, 95 tackling and 83 shooting. His positional range covers defensive midfield and the left, centre and right of midfield.

A live scan found 9,216 listed players. De Jong was the only one rated 95 or higher, with nobody at 98 or above. He is therefore the highest-rated player currently available on the market.

Barcelona’s valuation is the sticking point. His game value is 50.62M SVC, making the ask 2.96 times that figure—a premium of 99.38M SVC.

The contract picture adds another wrinkle. De Jong has one season remaining at Barcelona, while the auction terms specify two seasons, matching his desired contract length. He has no registered agent, is marked happy and has no recorded concerns.

Leader for sale in a title race

This is not a fringe-player clear-out. Barcelona lead ESP Division 1 with 34 points from 16 matches, and De Jong has played 727 league minutes across 10 appearances. That represents 81% of his available league time, with an average match rating of 6.9.

He recovered from injury on 9 September, is available at 89 fitness and remains in manager Ralek17’s submitted starting midfield. At 97, he is also joint-second in Barcelona’s squad ratings.

The financial lure is obvious. Barcelona currently hold 54.18M SVC in cash, so the 150M ask is 2.77 times the club’s present balance. But the sporting cost would be immediate: the league leaders would be selling one of their strongest and most-used players.

That leaves the market staring at a proper heavyweight dilemma. De Jong is the best-rated player on the shelf, yet Barcelona want almost three times his game value. Until a buyer accepts that calculation, the grandest active listing in Soccerverse remains only a price tag.
