AGENT WARS! BRETTWHIPP SAYS 80%+ OF LISTED CLIENTS ARE ALREADY SPOKEN FOR

Herzog blasts silent 50K influencers as desousap reports a 10–15% reply rate—and live data shows agents represent a quarter of players rated in the 70s.

AGENT WARS! BRETTWHIPP SAYS 80%+ OF LISTED CLIENTS ARE ALREADY SPOKEN FOR

The latest must-have transfer tool is not a scout. It is an agent who answers the bloody inbox.

Discord’s transfer channel largely simmered during the past 30 days, averaging 0.45 heat on a 0–3 scale with only one detected spike. Then a 62-minute stretch on 17 September produced at least 22 messages exposing the market’s rawest nerve: managers believe agents hold the cards, while agents reckon managers barely bother negotiating.

Herzog lit the fuse, complaining that players were being shuffled between clubs and that managers could not build properly.

So far, I haven't successfully contacted a single agent. They all want to manage their players themselves. Players are hard to come by, and agents with 50k Influence are the worst.

Herzog

desousap backed the complaint but acknowledged that responsive agents could become valuable business contacts. His personal reply-rate estimate was brutal.

lets say 10-15% of all the ones i contacted did answer me

desousap

tyki immediately punctured Herzog’s clean sweep with a steaming little correction.

We just spoke recently, so it's at least one agent that answered 💩

Why managers feel surrounded

Current game data lists 179,100 active players, defined as not retired. Of those, 14,355 have agents, spread across 567 agent names. That is only 8.02% overall—but the influence rises sharply where ambitious managers shop.

  • Rating 70–79: 3,762 of 15,007 are agented — 25.07%
  • Rating 80–89: 1,026 of 3,256 — 31.51%
  • Rating 90–99: 64 of 212 — 30.19%

So a manager chasing a player in the 70s meets an agent roughly one time in four, not one in twelve. Representation is concentrated too: the top 25 agent accounts handle 6,356 players, or 44.28% of the entire agented pool.

There is one delicious namesake twist, although it comes with a health warning. An in-game agent called Herzog ranks 19th by client count, representing 171 active players, including 56 rated 70-plus. Soccerverse’s public identity bridge returned no verified link to the Discord speaker, so that is a matching-name datapoint—not a confirmed gotcha.

The agents answer back

brettwhipp supplied the other side from his own recent experience. Across what he estimated as six to ten agented auctions, he said only about 5–10% of bidders contacted him before matching; his estimate rose to roughly 40% afterwards.

Then came the line that will have every manager reaching for the smelling salts.

I believe 80%+ of players who are put on the transfer market and have an agent already have a deal lined up.

brettwhipp

That 80%+ is Brett’s estimate, not a system-wide measurement. His explanation was less conspiracy and more old-fashioned transfer dealing: identify the player, negotiate with the manager and agent, then let the auction formalise an arrangement already assembled behind the scenes.

UnAndaluz offered the blunt shareholder solution.

Speaking about the Herzog situation, the only thing that can guarantee a player stays at your club is buying the Influences yourself.

UnAndaluz

And even brettwhipp argued elsewhere that Soccerverse may have leaned too hard into the role.

But I don’t think becoming the agent should be the main reason to invest in a player.

brettwhipp

That is the real row. There was no proof of cheating or rule-breaking in this exchange. There was clear evidence that the public auction is merely the shop window, while negotiation happens in private conversations before the deadline.

Managers want an answer. Agents want a proper pitch. Influence holders want control and returns. Meanwhile, everybody is blaming the inbox. Proper transfer politics, that: vast squads, expensive ambitions and the whole business hanging on whether somebody can be arsed replying.
