The meeting has never happened. That is why it matters.

In the version Ralek17 sketched on Discord, Barcelona’s manager would sit across from a president chosen by influence. Pay, bonuses, contract length, transfer spending and the power to block a player sale would sit between them.

Ralek would apply for the job. The president could say no.

The president would be the most influential person on the team.

This is a design proposal, not Barcelona’s current structure. Yet the live register gives the imaginary boardroom real faces.

Barcelona have 127 influence holders owning 99,739 currently held units. The largest, krille120, controls 35,522 — 35.6%. Ralek holds 6,515, or 6.5%.

He has not been closing that gap. The trade history records Ralek selling another 1,107 units across July 5 and 6.

The manager has the team. The community has the influence. Ralek’s bold idea is to make that tension formal.

A mandate, not a throne

A February 2025 manager proposal recorded 29,090 votes for Ralek against 14,980 for his rival. Barcelona’s manager history splits his spell into two entries, but together they now contain 157 matches and 89 victories.

The journey brought the continental knockout in Season 1, the Spanish title and world club cup in Season 2, then third place despite improved league results in Season 3.

Season 4 has restored the chase. Barcelona sit second after six league matches with 13 points, eight goals scored and two conceded. They are one point off the lead.

This is not a manager pleading for protection. It is a proven manager imagining stronger architecture around his own power.

Transfer strategy with a human fingerprint

The Times mapped Barcelona’s transfer machine two weeks ago. The more revealing follow-up is what sits beneath the ledger.

Season 4 has been perfectly balanced by headcount: four arrivals and four departures. Barcelona own 25 players, with three more sent out on loan.

The four newcomers are aged between 25 and 33 and today rate from 87 to 97. That looks like win-now recruitment. The strongest eleven averages 94.8, while the loan group includes a 19-year-old already rated 89.

This is concentration, not hoarding: immediate quality at the top, development space underneath and exits when somebody no longer fits.

Ralek once reduced the philosophy to one wonderfully unguarded sentence.

I only want players I like at Barça

There is the human fingerprint. Ratings matter. Roles matter. But taste survives inside the spreadsheet.

That makes his president proposal even more striking. The manager who chooses by conviction is publicly imagining somebody above him who could limit the budget or stop a sale.

The answer on grass

Barcelona responded to their only league defeat with five unbeaten competitive matches: four wins, one draw, 15 goals scored and one conceded.

Their latest league victory was a 3-0 win produced with a Defensive play style — and 42 shots, 24 on target and 64% possession. Even Ralek’s labels refuse to behave normally.

Across nine competitive matches he has used five formations and six play styles. The most common shape, 4-1-3-2, has appeared only four times. This remains a manager who wants choices.

That is what makes this Barcelona special. They are part superclub, part marketplace and part democracy: 127 holders behind one manager whose personal taste has helped deliver three trophies.

The president’s chair is still imaginary. The idea is not. At a club built to pursue almost any player, Ralek’s boldest next move may be giving somebody formal power to say no.
