Four days into Season 4 the transfer record is already smashed, one live auction carries a ceiling bigger than Kane's new mark, and every goalscoring record has reset to zero

Bayern Sold The Record For 398 Million — Now They Are Bidding It Straight Back Into Barcelona

Records are meant to last. This one lasted a weekend.

For the entire six months of Season 3, the biggest fee this game had ever seen was 225.0M SVC — a number this paper watched go the distance right through to the final whistle. Three days into Season 4, it's rubble. On Tuesday 7 July at 08:56 UTC, Harry Kane left Bayern for Barcelona for 398,564,561 SVC — 173.6M more than the old mark, a 77% leap in a single deal. The record book didn't tick over. It got kicked down the stairs.

The community watched the number land with the usual mix of awe and mockery.

Old slow kane sold for 399….. 🙈😭😂

But here's the twist that makes this a proper record watch rather than a one-day headline. The club that pocketed the 398.6M isn't sitting on it. Bayern are spending it straight back — and pointing the chequebook right at the club they just sold to.

The reload: 340 million aimed back at Barcelona

Selling Kane left Bayern sitting on a 649.8M SVC balance — the fattest war chest of any club I can find on the board. They've already committed a big chunk of it, and both live bids are for Barcelona men:

  • 200.0M SVC for a 92-rated, 23-year-old Barcelona attacking midfielder (game value just 38.3M — the bid is 5.2x what the system says he's worth). The auction closes Sunday 12 July, 09:15 UTC, and the next bid up is 202.0M.
  • 140.0M SVC for a 90-rated Barcelona right-back, also closing Sunday — a punchy 8.9x his 15.7M value.

The same afternoon Kane's deal cleared, Barcelona's manager Ralek17 was in the trading-influence channel posting the squad "all for sale." The market did the maths in about four seconds.

Now the record-watch detail that should have every trader refreshing the page: that 200.0M auction has a 12x ceiling of 459.4M SVC — roughly 60.8M *above* Kane's brand-new record. It's the one lot currently on the board that could, if the bidding turns into a war before Sunday, break the mark it just set. Bayern lead it at 200.0M for now. But with 649.8M burning a hole and a ceiling sitting above the record, this is the live wire.

Barcelona, for their part, have gone from breaking the bank to running light: their balance is down to 28.4M SVC after the Kane splurge, which explains the "all for sale" sign in the window. Money in, money out — the two richest transactions in the game are currently bouncing between the same two clubs.

The ledger — what fell

Kane's fee is the headline, but the whole market blew through the roof around the Season 4 rollover:

  • Transfer volume hit 14.69 billion SVC over the last 30 days — up a preposterous 383% on the prior month. The seven-day figure alone (9.44bn, +207%) tells you the taps are wide open.
  • The 4 July season kickoff was the single busiest day on the month's chart by a distance: 3.86 billion SVC in transfers, 10,563 transactions and 1,880 share trades in one day — more than double the next-busiest day for trades.
  • Total game market cap now stands at 5.3 billion SVC, and SVC itself pushed to a 30-day high against the dollar this week.

The ledger — what's still standing

Not every record fell. A few are holding — for now.

The busiest transfer window on record remains Season 2's monster 21,206 completed deals. Season 4 has racked up more than 800 in its opening days — a hot pace, but a long, long way to run.

And the priciest player nobody will touch is still Bayern's own 94-rated centre-back, up at 95.0M with not a single bid — the highest-rated name on the entire market and going nowhere. He's got company in the "big ask, dead line" club: Aston Villa want 225.0M for a 92-rated midfielder, Liverpool have 35-year-old Virgil van Dijk listed at 155.7M and Mohamed Salah at 135.0M, all bid-free. Asking for a record and getting one are, it turns out, very different things.

And the blank page

One more record worth watching — because it's currently a clean sheet of paper. Season 4 is four days old and not a single league fixture has been played. Every top-scorer chart I pulled came back empty. The Golden Boot race, the highest-scorer records, the hat-trick heroes — all of it reset to zero on 4 July, waiting for the first ball to be kicked.

So there's your record watch. The transfer mark that took six months to build was flattened in three days. The market is moving billions. And with a 459.4M ceiling live on the board and Bayern itching to spend 649.8M, the newest record in the book might not even survive the week. Check back Sunday night.
