Bayern's 176 Million Wonderkid Topped The Charts — But London Red Are The Ones Who Got Rich
Season 3 market review: the biggest completed transfers, and the share-price swings that actually mattered

Season 3 shuts its doors on July 4, and with the transfer window long since bolted, the ledger's in. I've been back through every completed deal and every tick on the club share market — and the story isn't who spent the most. It's who actually got richer.
The transfers of the season
Bayern won the spending headline. They paid a Season 3-record 176.0M SVC to prise an 18-year-old German playmaker (Player #494131, rated 94) out of minnows Andorra on 17 January — the biggest completed deal of the whole campaign, and roughly $575k at today's SVC rate. It still didn't trouble the all-time mark: Florian Wirtz's 225.0M move stands untouched, and 176.0M was as close as Season 3 came.
| Fee | Player | Deal | Closed | |---|---|---|---| | 176.0M | Player #494131 — 18yo German playmaker, 94-rated | Andorra → Bayern | 17 Jan | | 173.0M | Player #180496 — 25yo Georgian forward, 91-rated | Heidenheim → Salzburg | 17 Jan | | 150.0M | Viktor Gyökeres | Lisboa → Barcelona | 4 Jan | | 145.0M | Robinio Vaz | Halle → Barcelona | 9 Jan | | 129.2M | Bryan Mbeumo | Brentford → Manchester Red | 10 Jan | | 123.1M | Player #339887 — 20yo Turkish forward | Frankfurt → Bayern | 3 Jan | | 119.6M | José López | Kolkata Red → Brugge Blue | 1 May | | 110.8M | Player #178768 — 24yo German keeper | Freiburg → Marseille | 8 Jan | | 107.7M | Jonathan David | Lyon → Paris | 6 Jan | | 107.0M | Player #511 — 31yo German midfielder, 95-rated | Bayern → Milano Red | 8 Jan |
Add the ten together and that's 1.34 billion SVC of business from the headline deals alone. Two clubs dominate: Bayern appear three times as buyers — and once, tellingly, as a seller — while Barcelona's twin raid, 150.0M for Viktor Gyökeres and 145.0M for Robinio Vaz, cost a cool 295M in the opening week.
A January land-grab
Here's the kicker: nine of the ten biggest deals closed in the first three weeks of January. The window opened on the 3rd and the whales emptied their accounts on sight. Only one move gate-crashed the January monopoly — Brugge Blue's 119.6M capture of José López from Kolkata Red, all the way out on 1 May. The big money went quiet after that, though as late as 23 June Parma were still happy to part with 71.2M for George Ilenikhena.
The value movers: London Red clean up
Spending is one thing. Value is another — and on the club share market, one name towered over Season 3.
London Red opened the season trading at 14.60 SVC a share. They close it at 88.00 SVC — a 502% surge that added roughly 73.4M SVC to their market value, the single biggest swing of any liquid club in the game. The reason's no mystery: Sjow's side were crowned ENG Division 1 champions, 76 points from 38 games, and sit on a 227.9M SVC war chest. Win the league, win the market.
They weren't alone in the green. Barcelona's two-striker gamble was rewarded with a 66.7% lift (21.00 → 35.00 SVC); Milano Blue matched that exact rise; Leverkusen climbed 57.6%; England's runners-up Manchester Blue added 36%. For the speculators, the lottery ticket was tiny Trapani — up 356.7%, from 0.30 to 1.37 SVC.
...and the spend-and-slide
Which brings us back to Bayern. The season's biggest spenders were also its biggest losers. Their shares spiked to 50 SVC as the window opened in January, then more than halved to 19.45 SVC — a 61% slide and a market-value haemorrhage of some 30.5M SVC. All that outlay, all that downside.
They had company. Porto shed a third of their value (18.00 → 12.00 SVC), Cruzeiro 43%, and Lisboa — who banked Gyökeres's 150M cheque — still slid 31% as their squad was picked apart. In England the irony cut deepest: Manchester Red spent 129.2M on Bryan Mbeumo, finished 14th, and watched their shares dip 11.5%. Liverpool's 91M man Davide Frattesi helped them to fourth, but the price still came off 20.7%.
The bottom line
Season 3's market lesson, written in the data: the cheque book buys you players, not value. The clubs that climbed were the clubs that won — London Red above all — while the heaviest spenders, Bayern at their head, proved a record fee and a falling share price can sit happily side by side. With the total club market cap now north of 4.3 billion SVC, the verdict is in: it's results, not receipts, that move the money.
